We offer
The Technical Superintendent will form part of the Port Management Team, having input to overall fleet (5+ tug boats) composition and deployment decisions.
You will be responsible for overall functional leadership within all technical aspects of vessel management and will work closely with the Contract Manager to manage all Technical & Operational issues.
You will manage Svitzer vessels maintenance and condition, maintaining close liaison on technical matters with the Regional Technical Manager in Dubai. The position offers a unique opportunity for a pro-active and organized individual to exercise functional leadership across a large operation, building a culture of technical excellence and craftsmanship across the fleet. This position will be able to draw from a well developed toolbox within the Global Svitzer organization, selecting and applying practices from other parts of the world and applying in a local context.

Key responsibilities
• Overall technical and maintenance responsibility of country fleet of ASD & conventional tugs and ancillary craft.
• Ensure that adequate physical and manpower resources exist to handle all maintenance & repair work.
• On an ongoing basis coordinate the resources to ensure efficient utilization thereof.
• Visit all vessels on a regular basis to ensure that the standard of the maintenance and repairs are in accordance with the company maintenance policy.
• Ensure quality control and cost effectiveness of all vessels.
• Report to the operations manager on any malpractice by crew with regard to operational, HSE and maintenance procedures.
• Prepare a schedule of equipment needing repair or regular servicing and document equipment usage.
• Ensure the continuous maintenance of tugs, vessels and other marine equipment to minimize downtime and ensure vessel availability.
• Arrange local supply contacts and arrangements to ensure continuity within the operating budget as locally agreed.
• Supervise maintenance programs for vessels and provide dry dock specifications.
• Supervise sub-contractors working on the company’s vessels and equipment on-site.
• Advise Operations Manager promptly of any fault with or damages to the vessels or equipment.
• Maintain a continuous record of maintenance under an agreed program in a suitable planned maintenance system.
• Manage stock control system and spares (i.e. lubes, engine consumables, spare parts etc) ordering procedure.
• Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements.
• Develop and maintain local port/country procedures.
• Carry out internal Audits along with Marine Standards/HSEQ team and provide audit reports.
• Ensure audit actions are closed out satisfactorily and reported to the local/regional Marine Standards/HSEQ Manager and Technical Manager.
• Manage financial budget and cost control for maintenance, repairs, stores, modification and dry docking while ensuring compliance with class
• Recruit, train and assist in the motivation of all technical staff/crew to ensure professionalism at all times.
• Ensure that all vessel certifications and surveys for class, flag and international requirements are in order
• Liaising with Flag State and Port State control
• Coordinate with crewing department to ensure vessels are properly crewed with competent personnel
• Ensure timely preparation of technical reports or information to stakeholders

We are looking for
Education:
• Engineering/Marine Degree or related courses.
• Class One Motor Certificate or Competency essential (STCW ’95 CoC III/2).
• 5+ years of relevant shore based experience coupled with atleast 7 years sea going experience
Functional Experience:
• 5 Years Prior experience of managing maintaining a fleet of Port and Terminal Tugs of 60 tonnes Bollard pull or above.
• Practical knowledge, exposure and understanding of electrical/control systems would be an added advantage.
• Budget formulation, monitoring and cost management skills
• Experience with implementing and maintaining OVMSA, ISM code and PMS system.
• Good people and systems management.
• Experience with and knowledge of, modern marine coating systems
• Must remain up to date with Industry advances, technology and legislation.
• Operating experience in higher rank marine environment.
