Jing'an Temple is located at 1686 Nanjing West Road, Shanghai. Xiang is a famous ancient temple in Jiangnan. According to the stele, it was built in the tenth year (247 years) of Sun Quan Chiwu, Emperor Wu of the Three Kingdoms. The temple site was originally located on the north bank of Wusong River (now Suzhou River). It was originally named Hudu Chongyuan (Xuan) Temple, and was renamed Yongtai Temple in the Tang Dynasty. The name was changed to Jing'an Temple in the first year of Dazhong Xiangfu in the Northern Song Dynasty (1008). In the 9th year of Jiading in the Southern Song Dynasty (1216), due to the temple site approaching the river bank, the temple foundation was in danger of being hit by the river water day and night. The abbot Zhong Yinai moved the temple to the side of Lupu Feijingbang, which is the current temple site. After the Jing'an Temple moved to the present site, the scale gradually expanded, and in Yuan Dynasty, it became a giant temple. There are 8 places of interest in the temple, namely: the "Chiwu Stele" erected during the Three Kingdoms period, the "Chen Dynasty cypress" planted during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the "Xiazitan" originally spread by the gods and monks, and the "Lectures" built by Zhongyi in the Southern Song Dynasty "Taiwan", "Yongquan" bursting in the boiling Jingbang, "Green Cloud Cave" built by the poet Shouning, the ancient ferry "Luzidu" where pedestrians cross the Wusong River, and "Hudu", an ancient ferry crossing the Wusong River through the Eastern Jin Dynasty. base". Shou Ning collected poems by poets of the past dynasties and compiled it into "The Collection of the Eight Songs of Jing'an", and Jing'an Temple became famous. In the second year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1369), the Hongwu bell was cast, costing 6,000 catties of copper, and there was an inscription "cast in the second year of Hongwu, wishing the crown prince a great future". Since the early Qing Dynasty, the temple has repeatedly risen and fallen. During the Yongzheng period, the abbot Fu'an won the lawsuit because of the monastery's property case, and he maintained the property of Jing'an Temple and wrote down the story. In the sixth year of Qianlong (1741), Mai Huan, the servant of the Ministry of Rites, donated money to rebuild the hall. In the forty-third year of Qianlong (1778), Sun Siwang proposed to raise funds to rebuild the temple. Shengbao of Shanghai Road (Changbai) built the Yongquan Pavilion in front of the temple and built the Bao'en Yuan in the east of the temple for the monks to live in. The monk Dahai, once carved the ginkgo tree trunks of the Song Dynasty that had been burnt in the temple into eighteen arhats and a statue of Wei Tuo in the temple. During the Tongzhi period of Xianfeng, Jing'an Temple was destroyed by the war of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, leaving only one hall. Abbot Hefeng rebuilt Jing'an Temple in the sixth year of Guangxu (1880) with the support of Jinshen Li Chaoguan, Yao Xi, and Zhejiang rich businessman Hu Xueyan. The eighth temple was completed in April of the following year. A grand Buddha Bathing Festival was held in accordance with Buddhist rituals. Gathered, busy, and merchants spoke, it is a spectacle. Since then, the famous annual Jing'an Temple Fair has been formed. "Go to Longhua on March 3 (to see peach blossoms), and to Jing'an on April 8 (to visit the temple fair)" has become a Shanghai folk proverb.
