In 1917, Bank of China established its presence in Hong Kong. A century ago, our scale was small with fewer than ten employees. Today, we are a mainstream banking group with the most extensive branch network in Hong Kong. We have not only played a vital role in Hong Kong’s economic development but also contributed to its stability and prosperity. Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (“BOCHK”) is a locally incorporated licensed bank. In 2001, the Bank of China Group in Hong Kong was restructured. We combined the businesses of 10* of the 12 banks in Hong Kong originally belonged to the Bank of China Group. In addition, we held shares in Nanyang Commercial Bank, Limited (“NCB”), Chiyu Banking Corporation Limited (“Chiyu”) and BOC Credit Card (International) Limited, all of which incorporated in Hong Kong. To implement the overseas development strategy of Bank of China Group, we completed disposal of all of our interests in NCB and Chiyu in May 2016 and March 2017 respectively. In addition, we strive to drive our regional development by expanding our business in the Southeast Asian region. Our branches and subsidiaries have been extended to Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei, with the provision of professional and high-quality financial services to local customers.
