Rotation has existed as a shop since 2003 on Rosenthaler Platz in Berlin Mitte. In the first few years we were mainly a record store for electronic music, but there were always clothes and all kinds of art objects. DJs from Dr. Motte to Ellen Alien and Tiefschwarz to DJ Hell were among our regular customers. We were even known in Japan and the USA and Rotation Records was valued for the loving and well-stocked vinyl selection. Niko passed her free time tidying up the record collections of various DJs, and so a few thousand second hand records found their way to us and then via Ebay and Discogs to many new happy owners all over the world. But times changed, and around 2008 many DJs switched from black gold to digital formats. Christine, who was still DJ Suzi Wong at the time, got into the shop for this. We wanted to do a lot of things new and different, appreciated the good location in the center of East Berlin and had many friends in the art, design and fashion environment.
